In Australia, over 3,000 people die each year as a result of excessive alcohol and around 81,000 are hospitalised. This number of deaths is more than double our total annual road fatalities.
It goes without saying the real cost to the Australian community is not just measured in the $10’s of Billions it costs us each year.
To illustrate how much alcohol is part of our Aussie culture in the first half of the 1900s, drunkenness offences comprised more than half of all the charges presented at Australian Magistrates’ Courts.
Staying with the cultural theme. Why do we have the saying drugs and alcohol? That is a brilliant bit of marketing by the alcohol industry, many decades ago.

What do I need to know about drinking?
The recommended guidelines from the National Health and Medical Research Council:
If you drink regularly, to stay healthy, drink no more than two standard drinks on any day.
For pregnant or breastfeeding mothers it is recommended not to drink alcohol.
What alcohol does to your body depends on:
- How much you drink
- How quickly you drink it
- Your size and weight
- Whether you are male or female
- How good your physical and mental health is
Is it time to get things back in Balance?
Drinking a lot of alcohol regularly over time is likely to cause physical, emotional or social problems. Damage to some body organs can be permanent.
Problems can include:
- Poor diet
- Stomach problems
- Frequent infections
- Skin problems
- Liver and brain damage
- Damage to reproductive organs
- Memory loss/confusion

As you are well aware repetition is the key element in creating any habit, whether that serves us or not…
One of the most basic principles in neural science is that the average person operates about 90% of the day from their habitual or subconscious mind. I also call this part of us our automatic or robot mind. This part of us is like a double edged sword it can serve us or it can work against depending on how we have programmed it.
As a general rule there are also a number of other factors that need to be considered as part of these solutions for change. These are all an important part of the other 1/2 However habit and other subconscious behaviour has a profound influence on us.
The good news is Hypnosis as a general rule can be incredably succesful in helping us to change or influence that part of all addiction.

The good news is hypnosis is one of a few ways we can change those habits. For that reason hypnosis is part of all 3 sessions. The hypnosis component of all 3 sessions is around 40 minutes. The rest of the sessions are about the mind set and strategies to make these new habits well entrenched.

During the 3 Week Program you will be required to:
- Abstain from alcohol for 3 weeks
- Exercise for ½ hr. every day (eg. ½ hr. walk each day)
Sometimes to get things back in balance we often have to push the pendulum back the other way to get it back into the centre.
My suggested Boundaries or Golden Rules to use by the end of the 3 Week Program:
- 3 alcohol free days per week
- Never drink alone
- No more than 3 standard drinks on any day (stay under .05)
- Do not drink for more than 3 consecutive days

I just wanted to send a big thank you to you for changing my life. You have enabled me to stop drinking and as time goes by it gets easier and easier. I went to my first Christmas party last night and was thrilled that, even with everyone around me drinking champagne, I had no desire to do so myself.
I am now able to live a healthy life without guilt thanks to you. It’s only been a month so far and I intend to wait about another 3 and then contact you again to perhaps see if I’m able to have just one or two on special occasions, whether through hypnotherapy, or just your advice on whether to try it or not, if indeed I have a desire to do so. You asked me to let you know how i was travelling . Yesterday was 3 months since our 1st session and I do feel that 3month milestone is about right. I have a diferent association with red wine I enjoy an occasional glass but I now look at it almost like a snake handler I am very aware that it can bite me.

I have recently met this wonderful woman who is also a recovering alcoholic I now definitely understand this addiction a lot more, the thought of going back to those old ways is now unimaginable.
